Within my paintings I draw upon the subject matter of the tangibility of cloth/
fabric as well as using it as a metaphor for life. I am interested in numerous
facets of fabric: grain, weave, thread etc. It’s condition: threadbare,
disintegrating, worn and flawed. These subjective elements play with a wider
symbolism.
From the subject matter I use I try to extract the subtle beauty one finds in the
incidental. My aim is not to dictate or overstate to the viewer the meaning
within my work but rather hint and allow the viewer to bring their own
thoughts and feelings to the work.
